Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock Reunite at Practical Magic 2 Premiere — Nearly Three Decades After the Original

Nearly three decades on from the original cult classic, Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock stepped back into the world of the Owens sisters — and the magic, it seems, is very much still there.

The two Hollywood heavyweights graced the red carpet at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square on 26th August for the European premiere of Practical Magic 2, the long-awaited sequel to the 1998 romantic fantasy that has quietly amassed a devoted fanbase over the years. Directed by Susanne Bier, the film picks up 25 years after the original, with Sally's daughter Kylie uncovering hidden family secrets — while both Kidman and Bullock reprise their roles as sisters Sally and Gillian Owens.

Also returning from the original are Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest, with fresh faces joining the cast in the form of Maisie Williams, Joey King, Lee Pace, Solly McLeod and Xolo Mariduena. It's a formidable ensemble — but make no mistake, all eyes were firmly on the film's two leading ladies.

For Kidman, the sequel came down to one simple force: the fans. "It was the fans," she told British Vogue. "It was an actual demand from people. They were like, 'Do we get this? Can we please?'"

Kidman also offered a cheeky glimpse into how she and Bullock approached the decision to return. "Then it was whether Sandy wanted to do it. Let's put it this way. I'm like: 'Why not?' and she's like: 'Why?'" she said — a line that perfectly captures the sisters' push-pull dynamic, both on screen and apparently off it.

The fashion on the night was every bit as show-stopping as the reunion itself. Kidman, 59, wore a custom Chanel gown created by the maison's creative director Matthieu Blazy — an icy, sequin-adorned strapless dress featuring a figure-hugging silhouette, pearl and gold chain detailing at the bust, and a daring thigh-high slit. Her blonde hair was left down in a sleek, straight style with her signature fringe, complemented by a bronze eye and a soft pink lip.

The choice of Chanel was far from coincidental. Kidman was named an official Chanel ambassador in October 2025, a few months after Blazy's appointment at the house. "As someone who has such an appreciation for haute couture, I am so looking forward to witnessing Matthieu's vision for the oldest haute couture house still in operation," Kidman said in a statement at the time of the appointment.

Bullock, meanwhile, opted for a different French fashion house — arriving in a leopard-print Givenchy gown from the brand's autumn 2026 ready-to-wear collection. The strapless piece featured a jacquard corseted bow draped at the side, paired with open-toe black heels, layered gold necklaces and soft brunette waves styled into a sultry finish.

The premiere arrives at a significant moment for Kidman personally. The actress has been candid about navigating an uncertain chapter in her life following her divorce from Keith Urban last September, after 19 years of marriage. Speaking to British Vogue, she reflected with characteristic honesty on having to reimagine her future.

"I'm like, 'OK, I didn't expect this. I had a different view of what my life was going to be, but this is what it is now'," she said. "You make all these plans and you have all these ideas of what it's all going to be like and then it's . . . not. You have to adjust. You adapt. The future, it's completely unknown to me right now . . . Strange."

Strange, perhaps — but if Wednesday night's premiere was any measure, Nicole Kidman is stepping into that unknown with considerable style.
