Prince Harry has returned to the United States just weeks after relocating his family to Britain, touching down in New York City where he is set to speak at the Clinton Global Initiative 2026 Annual Meeting — a transatlantic turnaround that underscores just how much his life remains split between two worlds.
The Duke of Sussex was filmed walking through Midtown Manhattan on Tuesday and is listed as a speaker at the high-profile summit, sharing the main stage with Hillary Clinton and Chelsea Clinton in a session titled "Getting Disruption Right," which tackles the ethical tensions surrounding rapid technological change. Queen Maxima of the Netherlands and former Georgia House of Representatives Minority Leader Stacey Abrams are also listed as speakers at the event.
From London to New York in a Matter of Days
The New York visit comes hot on the heels of Harry's first run of public charity appearances since the Sussex family moved back to Britain at the end of August — a busy stretch that saw him promote the Invictus Games in London on Thursday and Birmingham on Friday, before attending the WellChild Awards at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London on Monday.
At the WellChild ceremony, Harry visibly welled up during his speech as he paid tribute to the families of seriously ill children in the room.
"To all the mums and dads — most of us will never truly know the emotional ups and downs of your day."
Harry has been Patron of WellChild since 2007, and he told HELLO! magazine that fatherhood has fundamentally changed the way he connects with the families involved. "Once you become a parent, it does change everything," he said. "You suddenly realise how grateful you are to have kids that aren't sick."
A Family Affair Behind the Scenes
In a characteristically candid moment backstage at the WellChild Awards, Harry revealed that even his children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, had been drawn into the spirit of the evening — albeit after a bumpy Monday morning start.
"At breakfast this morning, they had a bit of Monday morning blues. But I decided, 'You know what? You're being a little bit tricky, so I'm going to tell you exactly what I'm doing tonight.' And they were genuinely fascinated and asking all sorts of questions."
Harry also shared a few details of the family's re-immersion into British life, joking that Marmite on crumpets had gone down far better with the children than a previous attempt at beans on toast back in California. "They used to diss me for having Marmite in the house, and now they're in the UK it's like that's kind of water under the bridge," he said.

The return to Britain has not been without its complications. A row broke out with Buckingham Palace after a letter issued on behalf of King Charles III described Harry and Meghan Markle as "private citizens" rather than "public figures" — wording Harry's team had specifically asked to be changed. The memo was sent to the Sussexes just an hour before it was distributed to the media, government officials and the military, a timeline their team found deeply frustrating.
The fallout briefly spilled into Invictus Games territory when Uganda announced it was pulling out of the tournament, citing support for the King — a move the Sussex camp attributed to the palace letter. Uganda subsequently rejoined after the King's most senior adviser, Sir Clive Alderton, clarified that the palace had no objection to the event.
Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan pulled Archie and Lilibet from their UK school over concerns that traffic congestion on the school run could compromise the family's security. The children are now enrolled at a new school.
Meghan, for her part, has yet to make a public appearance in the UK since the move, though Harry has been swift to hit the ground running. The couple have retained their Montecito home in California, and Harry's swift return to American soil — however brief — makes clear that their ties to the United States remain very much intact.
