Jacob Elordi Shuts Down Fan Mid-Date With Kendall Jenner in Tokyo — and the Internet Can't Agree

Australian actor Jacob Elordi, 28, has found himself at the centre of a viral storm after a video of a fan encounter in Japan racked up almost three million views on TikTok and nearly a million more on Instagram. The clip, posted by fan Otavio Bittencourt, shows him walking alongside Elordi before placing a hand on the Euphoria star's back to get his attention — a move that did not go down well.

Bittencourt captioned the clip simply: "Just wanted a picture chief" — but the comments section quickly became a battleground. The fan later clarified that he had been waiting in line at a restaurant when Elordi and his rumoured girlfriend Kendall Jenner unexpectedly walked in. He insists he waited until they were on their way out before making his move.

"I went to the restaurant to eat and had no idea they'd be there," Bittencourt wrote in the comments. "I didn't go up to them while they were eating. On their way out, I asked for a picture. Just a fan who was excited to meet him and wanted to capture the moment, that's all. No disrespect intended. It's not like I stalked them or wrapped him in a bear hug. No big deal."

As the comment count climbed, Bittencourt seemed surprised by the backlash directed at him rather than Elordi, writing: "Some of you in the comments are so soft, you've got me laughing."

Despite Bittencourt's frustration, the overwhelming majority of viewers sided firmly with Elordi. The comments read like a masterclass in parasocial boundary-setting.

"I would never touch a celebrity to get their attention. Put yourself in their shoes — your innocent tap reads a bit different when you've been hounded relentlessly by so many different types of fans, paparazzi, etc," wrote one viewer, in a comment that racked up thousands of likes.

"I'm sure you wouldn't want strangers touching you either. Celebrity or not — don't touch people you don't know," added another.

Not everyone was so sympathetic to Elordi, however. A vocal minority felt his reaction was disproportionate. "He seems rude," one person commented flatly. "It wasn't that big of a deal, you just wanted a picture," echoed another. One particularly pointed observer noted: "He's now with a Jenner. He is untouchable."

That Jenner reference is no accident. The fan encounter comes hot on the heels of Elordi and Kendall Jenner being photographed together in Japan, adding fresh fuel to romance rumours that have been simmering since Coachella 2026. According to an insider, the pair were spotted kissing at Justin Bieber's after-party — though neither has officially confirmed the relationship. The two have moved in the same circles for years, with Elordi attending Jenner's birthday celebrations back in 2022.
