The script comes courtesy of Adam and Aaron Nee, who recently penned Amazon MGM's Masters of the Universe, and Jonathan Tropper, the creator of cult TV hits Banshee and Warrior. On paper, it's one of the most commercially loaded casting announcements Netflix has made all year.

Hart is producing through his company Hartbeat as well as starring, making the deal doubly significant. Hartbeat has endured a turbulent stretch recently, having laid off approximately 25 per cent of its staff earlier this year. A major Netflix project of this scale — assembled alongside Reynolds and Levy's Maximum Effort and 21 Laps, the production house also behind Stranger Things — sends a clear signal that Hart's commercial clout remains very much intact.

No release date has been confirmed yet, and the project remains untitled — a hint that the script may still be in its final stages of development. Production is expected to begin towards the end of 2026 or into 2027, meaning audiences are likely looking at a 2028 arrival at the earliest.
