A Proud Dad Moment Years in the Making
There are seven Super Bowl rings, 23 seasons in the NFL, and a legacy that will never be topped on the gridiron — but it was a maroon cap and gown that brought Tom Brady to his knees. The 47-year-old former quarterback reunited with his ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan over the weekend to watch their son Jack graduate from high school, and the emotional tribute Brady posted afterwards may be the finest thing he has ever written.
Jack — full name John Edward Thomas Moynahan — turned 18 this year and walked across the graduation stage to applause from a family that, despite its complicated beginnings, has quietly become one of the most graceful co-parenting stories in celebrity life. Brady's parents Tom Sr. and Galynn were there, as were Jack's younger siblings Benjamin, 16, and Vivian, 13, who Brady shares with ex-wife Gisele Bündchen.
"One of the proudest days of my life, watching Jack walk across the stage. What makes me happiest is knowing who you are when no one is watching." — Tom Brady
The Instagram Post That Stopped the Scroll
Brady shared a carousel of images on Instagram on Saturday 13th June, including one striking photograph of himself and Moynahan flanking Jack, all three beaming at the camera. His caption was lengthy, personal, and — frankly — rather beautiful. He praised Jack not for his achievements, but for his character: the way he shows up for friends, checks in on people having a hard time, and quietly loves the people around him.
He signed off with a rallying cry any parent would be proud to write: "This isn't an ending. It's a starting line. Take the risks. Be kind. Be yourself. And know your family and friends are always right behind you cheering the loudest because you do the same for everybody else."
Moynahan, 55, followed up with her own post the next day, tagging Brady and adding the hashtags #wedidit and #proudparents — a small but telling gesture that spoke volumes about where this blended family stands in 2025. The celebrity world took notice, and for good reason.
A Complicated Beginning, a Settled Chapter
Brady and Moynahan dated from 2004 before splitting in early 2006. In February 2007, Moynahan announced she was three months pregnant — by which point Brady had already begun dating Gisele Bündchen. Jack arrived in August 2007, and from those awkward early circumstances, something genuinely warm and functional appears to have grown.

Moynahan went on to marry businessman Andrew Frankel in October 2015. Brady married Bündchen in 2009, and they welcomed Benjamin and Vivian before announcing their divorce in October 2022 after 13 years of marriage. Bündchen has since moved on with jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente, welcoming a son with him in February 2025.
"Tom and I made a decision to raise a child together, and we both found partners that not only supported us but loved our child as if he was their own." — Bridget Moynahan, People, 2019
Bündchen has also spoken warmly about Jack over the years, previously telling People magazine that she calls him her "bonus child" and that she couldn't imagine life without him — a generous sentiment given the circumstances of his arrival in her world.
Jack's Next Chapter
What happens next for Jack Moynahan remains to be seen, but if his father's tribute is anything to go by, he heads into adulthood with formidable emotional intelligence and a remarkable extended family cheering him on. Brady was clear that this milestone is not a finish line — and given the genetic material and sheer force of personality behind this particular 18-year-old, that feels about right.
For Brady himself, retired from the NFL since February 2023 after a record-breaking career primarily with the New England Patriots and latterly the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, fatherhood increasingly appears to be where he finds his biggest wins. And on Saturday, watching his eldest son graduate, it is hard to argue he didn't earn another one. Follow the latest in entertainment for more on the Brady family.
