Perez Hilton is receiving medical attention in a Miami hospital after emergency services were called to his home on Tuesday night, following reports that the celebrity blogger had been seen self-harming during a TikTok livestream.
The Miami-Dade County Sheriff's Office confirmed it had received multiple calls from members of the public about the footage, which showed Hilton — whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr — alone in his home. His TikTok account was suspended within minutes of the stream ending.
Police Called to Miami Home
Deputies arrived at Hilton's Miami residence and spoke with family members before choosing to "tactically disengage" while continuing to monitor the situation — a decision the sheriff's office defended as standard crisis response practice.
"In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritise de-escalation by creating time, distance, and opportunities for communication," the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office said in a statement.
The sheriff's office later confirmed that Hilton had been "safely recovered and transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical attention".
Crisis intervention specialists and licensed mental health professionals were also on scene, the office added, providing support to his family.
Managers Speak Out
Hilton's managers, Dante Rusciolelli and Rebekah Kochan of Golden Artists Entertainment, confirmed their awareness of the situation in a joint statement issued to several outlets, including Variety and the LA Times — though said they had been unable to reach their client directly.
"Our primary concern is Perez's health and well-being, as well as the well-being of his family. Until we have confirmed information, we will not speculate or comment further. We appreciate everyone's concern and ask that his privacy be respected during this time."
In June, Hilton had announced he had relocated with his three children from Las Vegas to Miami — making the city his new base as he continued to run his blog, podcast and social media presence.
From Gossip King to a Changed Brand
Hilton first rose to prominence in the early 2000s through his self-titled celebrity gossip blog, which became one of the most-read of its era thanks to his sharp, often cutting commentary on Hollywood's biggest names. His stage name was itself a pointed joke — a riff on Paris Hilton, one of the most-covered celebrities of the moment.
The blog attracted controversy as well as readers, drawing criticism from the likes of Miley Cyrus, Khloe Kardashian, Mila Kunis and Lady Gaga, among others. In later years, Hilton publicly reflected on that period of his career with considerable regret. In his 2020 memoir, he wrote: "I have a ton of regrets, particularly because I now see that I never needed to be so mean or cruel."
In a 2012 interview with The New York Times, he had already begun that public reckoning, saying: "What's important for me is not being liked, but it is that people think I am no longer toxic to the world." He acknowledged at the time that scepticism from those he had hurt would linger — and it did.
In more recent years, Hilton had worked to reshape his public image, adopting a warmer, more reflective tone across his platforms. He continues to cover entertainment news through his blog, podcast and social media channels.
