Scott Eastwood has never been shy about saying what he thinks — and in a candid new interview, the actor has taken direct aim at a unnamed co-star who he says pocketed a film salary and then walked away from the project before it even got going properly.
Appearing on The Joe Rogan Experience, the 40-year-old film star described a situation that left him genuinely stunned. According to Eastwood, the unnamed actor — who he describes only as someone who had become too famous for too long — pulled out during pre-production after money had already been spent, claiming they no longer wanted to work with another person on the project.
'Do the Right Thing'
When Eastwood confronted the unnamed star and told them they ought to return the money to the investor, the response was a flat refusal. He didn't mince words about how he felt about that.
"It's black and white. Do the right thing. Don't be a piece of s***. You can't do that. That's unacceptable behavior."
Eastwood was clear that he understood the actor had creative concerns — acknowledging it was "their directorial, their story, their thing" — but said none of that excused walking away with someone else's money. "I've seen some behavior in this business that is shocking," he added. "That would not go in other industries, but for some reason because they're stars, right?"
Famous for Too Long
The broader point Eastwood seemed keen to make was about accountability — or the lack of it — in Hollywood. He didn't name the individual, but framed the incident as symptomatic of a wider problem with unchecked star power.
"People get too famous for too long and think the world owes them something."
It's a pointed observation from someone who knows the industry from the inside. Eastwood, the son of Oscar-winning director and actor Clint Eastwood, has himself appeared in a string of major productions including Fury, The Longest Ride and The Fate of the Furious, as well as several films alongside his father.
Words for His Father Too
The podcast appearance came shortly after Eastwood also addressed comments made by his half-brother Kyle, who had suggested their father — now 96 — had retired from acting and directing. Scott was measured but clearly unconvinced, telling ScreenRant he hadn't heard anything of the sort directly from Clint himself.
He was effusive, however, about the legacy his father has built. "The work, the artistry that he's done on and off screen — producing, writing, composing, directing, acting — the body of work is incredible," Scott said. Clint's most recent directorial effort was the 2024 legal thriller Juror #2, starring Nicholas Hoult, Toni Collette and Zoey Deutch. His last on-screen acting role came in the 2021 western thriller Cry Macho.
