The Wedding That Shut Down New York

Madison Square Garden has hosted some of the biggest events in the world, but even by its own extraordinary standards, Friday night was something else. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce married at the iconic Manhattan arena in a ceremony that brought roughly a thousand guests flooding through its doors — and temporarily paralysed one of the busiest corners of New York City in the process.

Fans had braved temperatures touching 100°F behind police barricades outside MSG, while blacked-out SUVs rolled steadily down 33rd Street. Security guards checked QR codes from car windows before granting entry, as a near-constant stream of A-listers made their way inside. The couple's nuptials were confirmed to those gathered outside the venue at around 7.30pm local time, when a sign appeared reading: "JUST&T MARRIED!"

"Anyone I've ever talked to" — Swift, joking on the Graham Norton Show in October 2025 about the size of her planned guest list

She was not exaggerating. The guest list reads like a particularly ambitious fever dream: Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Bradley Cooper, Dakota Johnson, Jennifer Lawrence, Camila Cabello, Ellie Goulding, Gracie Abrams, Ed Sheeran and his wife Cherry Seaborn, rapper Ice Spice, and Ted Lasso actor Jason Sudeikis, who memorably used a comedy event two years ago to ask Kelce when he would "make an honest woman" out of Swift. It is safe to say the answer has now been delivered.

Hugh Grant, Jon Bon Jovi and a Few Surprises

Among the more eyebrow-raising attendees was Hugh Grant, who arrived alongside singer Benson Boone through a separate entrance to the main arrivals. Swift has previously described herself as "a long time Hugh Grant stan", and invited the British actor with his wife Anna Elisabet Eberstein. Graham Norton — who interviewed Swift on his BBC show in October, during which she issued the thousand-person invite warning — also attended with his husband Jono McLeod. Both men found themselves on the receiving end of a joke that turned out to be entirely literal.

Jon Bon Jovi's band were believed to be among the performers on the night, which would explain why Millie Bobby Brown and her husband Jake Bongiovi — son of the rock legend — were among those photographed leaving the stadium in the early hours of Saturday morning. Andrew Scott, Ethan Hawke (who appeared in Swift's 2024 video for Fortnight), Jessica Alba, Jimmy Fallon and Swift's childhood friend Abigail Anderson were also spotted at the celebrations.

Perhaps the most talked-about guest of all was supermodel Karlie Kloss, once considered one of Swift's closest friends before the pair appeared to quietly drift apart around 2017. Kloss attended alongside her husband Joshua Kushner, suggesting whatever distance had grown between the two women has since been closed — or at least set aside for one very large party.

Kelce's Chiefs and the NFL Contingent

Naturally, Travis Kelce's Kansas City Chiefs teammates were guaranteed their spots on the list, and several were pictured arriving. NFL player Isiah Pacheco was among those photographed, as was Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Cooper Kupp and his wife Anna Marie. Former US footballer Abby Wambach and author Glennon Doyle were also among the guests pictured arriving at the venue.

No official images from inside the ceremony have been released, and many of the estimated thousand attendees managed to enter entirely unphotographed — a remarkable feat given the level of media attention outside. What little has filtered out paints a picture of a night that was, in Swift's own words, built for everyone she has ever known. Given the scale of her life and career, that turns out to be quite a lot of people. Follow all the latest from the entertainment world as more details emerge from the couple's celebrations.
