Heidi Klum has never been one to shy away from a statement, but her appearance at Vogue World 2026: Milano may be her most memorable fashion moment yet — not simply for what was on show, but for the deeply personal reason she chose the look in the first place.
A Gown Built on Craftsmanship, Not Corsets
The 53-year-old supermodel arrived at the star-studded Milan event wearing a floor-length black lace gown by Greek designer Celia Kritharioti, taken from the label's Fall/Winter 2026-2027 Haute Couture collection. The dress combined sheer mesh with intricate floral lace appliqués and vertical striped detailing that swept from the high neckline all the way to the hem — leaving the black underwear beneath entirely visible through the transparent fabric.
What set the piece apart technically, however, was its construction. Unlike many couture gowns of this ilk, the Kritharioti creation was built without a shaping corset, allowing it to move naturally with Klum's body rather than sculpt it into a predetermined silhouette.
Klum told Vogue that the absence of restrictive underpinnings made her feel like "just Heidi" — nothing dictated a particular shape or distracted from her body.
It is a sentiment that feels entirely in keeping with the woman herself. Klum has spoken candidly in recent years about her relationship with her body and ageing, telling People magazine: "The biggest misconception about being in your 50s is that you are off the shelf. Vogue World 2026: Milano was structured around a five-act show dedicated to Italy's artisanal heritage, with the opening act paying direct tribute to Renaissance-era lace, brocades, and hand-worked surfaces. Lace, of course, has deep roots in the region — Milan lace emerged at the end of the 17th century, while nearby Cantù became one of Lombardy's great centres of bobbin lace-making.

She was far from alone in making a statement on the night. Jordyn Woods chose a sculptural white gown with exaggerated hips and a plunging corset, Mikey Madison wore a glossy red mini-dress, and Cardi B shimmied through the Galleria in a clingy archival Versace gown. Fellow sheer-fashion enthusiast Dakota Johnson, a recent Vogue cover star, also went all-black in a Valentino velvet jacket layered over a plunging stretch-lace bodysuit and a flowing transparent train.
Confidence That Comes With the Territory
Klum shared photos and behind-the-scenes moments from the evening on her Instagram, giving followers a glimpse of her glamorous preparations ahead of stepping out. It was classic Klum — unabashedly herself, entirely on her own terms.
