The Princess of Wales made a powerful statement on Tuesday evening as she joined the King and Queen at St James's Palace for a special reception marking Cancer Research UK's 125th anniversary year. Hosted by His Majesty in his role as Patron of the charity, the gathering brought together scientists, medical professionals, volunteers and key partners — and it also marked the first joint engagement between the Princess and the King since 2022. Cancer Research UK traces its roots back to 1902, and its impact on British medicine has been extraordinary — survival rates for cancer patients in the UK have doubled over the past 50 years, and eight out of ten cancer drugs used across the country today were developed by or in collaboration with the charity. The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were also among the guests as the royals explored immersive installations charting the charity's history and future ambitions. Catherine, who announced she was in remission in January 2025 following her diagnosis in March 2024, also met television presenter Davina McCall at the reception — a warm moment at an evening full of them.
