If you blinked during season one of Sugar, you almost certainly missed the moment a slick LA detective noir quietly became one of the most bonkers shows on television. Now it's back — and Colin Farrell is absolutely not done with us yet.

The Show That Caught Everyone Off Guard

Apple TV+ has dropped the official trailer for the second season of its hit detective drama, and it looks every bit as tense and stylish as what came before. Farrell plays John Sugar, a sharp-suited private investigator with a deep love of classic cinema and — as it turns out — a very unusual origin story.

Season one hooked viewers with a missing persons mystery before pulling the rug out completely. John isn't just a detective. He's an alien, part of a secret society called the Polyglots, sent to Earth to observe humanity.

Where On Earth — Literally — Do We Pick Up?

By the season one finale, the Polyglots' cover was blown and most were forced to leave the planet. But John stayed behind, haunted by a rogue colleague's crimes and desperate to find his missing sister, Djen.

Season two sees him take on a brand new case — the disappearance of an up-and-coming boxer's older brother — which spirals into a city-wide conspiracy that forces John to question everything about himself.

A Cast That Deserves Your Full Attention

Farrell, who has barely put a foot wrong since The Banshees of Inisherin, is joined by an incredible new lineup. That includes Tony Dalton (Better Call Saul), Laura Donnelly (Outlander), and Sasha Calle (The Flash), with Perry Mason's Shea Whigham as a special guest star.

With an 81% Rotten Tomatoes score and serious word-of-mouth buzz, this is one of those rare shows that genuinely rewards your time.
