Emily Blunt may have spent years trying to shield her daughters from the glare of Hollywood — but it sounds like Hazel and Violet have other ideas. The family made their annual pilgrimage to the US Open in New York on Sunday, offering fans one of their rarest glimpses of the two girls, and the resemblance to their famous mother was impossible to miss.
A Family Tradition at Flushing Meadows
Emily Blunt, 43, and John Krasinski, 46, were spotted in the stands at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Centre, watching American Ben Shelton take on Germany's Alexander Zverev in the men's final — a nail-biting four-set affair that Zverev ultimately won. The family-of-four have made the US Open something of a yearly tradition, but with Hazel now 12 and Violet 10, this year's outing drew particular attention as both girls are growing into striking likenesses of their mother, sharing her shoulder-length dirty blonde hair and a blend of their parents' features.
The couple kept things relaxed courtside. Krasinski opted for a black striped polo, while Blunt wore an orange top and hat. At one point, the girls were photographed pulling their gaze from the court to look at something their mum was showing them on her phone — a very on-brand family moment from one of Hollywood's most grounded partnerships.
Stage Fright? Not for the Next Generation
Despite Blunt's well-documented nerves about her daughters entering the entertainment industry, it seems the girls are already well on their way.
Speaking with WSJ. Magazine, the Oppenheimer star revealed that both Hazel and Violet are already acting in school plays and love visiting their parents on set — particularly for projects like the A Quiet Place films, which involve both parents.
"My toes curl when people tell me, 'My daughter wants to be an actress.' I want to say, 'Don't do it!' Because it's a hard industry and it can be very disappointing."
Blunt made those comments to Harper's Bazaar UK, adding that being judged on one's appearance makes rejection feel uniquely personal. And yet, faced with her daughters' enthusiasm, she appears to have made a pragmatic peace with the inevitable: "I'm just going to have to support it no matter what might terrify me for them, or no matter how much I push STEM down their throats."
Keeping the Spotlight at Bay
The couple have been fiercely consistent about protecting their children's privacy since they married in 2010. Blunt once told The Sunday Times that the word "famous" was never even used at home — making it all the more striking when Hazel came home from school one day and asked her mother outright: "Are you famous?"
"My children's happiness, their safety and their well-being is the most paramount thing in my life. And if I am unable to give them any of those things, then who am I? What's my identity?"
Krasinski has been equally hands-on in making family the priority. He famously flew from Montreal to London every weekend while filming the first series of Jack Ryan, so he could be with his family while Blunt was working on Mary Poppins Returns. "Family for me, it's a non-negotiable thing," he has said.
Prada, Plays and Pre-Teen Fame
The outing comes as Blunt has been back in the public eye following the release of The Devil Wears Prada sequel in May, in which she reprises her role as Emily Charlton, senior assistant to Meryl Streep's fearsome Miranda Priestly.
The film has clearly made an impression at home too — Blunt told E! News that her daughters watched the original again the night before seeing the sequel, having only discovered it for the first time roughly a year ago after their school friends became obsessed with it.
Between a Prada sequel, a US Open final, and two daughters already bitten by the acting bug, it's fair to say the Blunt-Krasinski household is anything but quiet — whatever the film franchise might suggest.
