Jennifer Lopez rang in her 57th birthday on Friday with the kind of breezy, sun-drenched confidence that suggests she has absolutely no intention of looking back. The singer shared a windswept video from the passenger seat of a moving vehicle, dressed in a white ruffled sundress, her highlighted hair catching the breeze — and paired it with a caption that stopped people mid-scroll.
"When you keep going it just keeps getting better," she wrote, alongside a string of sparkling and celebratory emojis.
Lopez didn't name-drop her former husband Ben Affleck, but she didn't need to. The birthday post landed more than a year after her divorce from the actor became official — a marriage that lasted just two years after the pair famously rekindled a romance that had first ignited in the early 2000s, only to be called off before the original planned wedding. They eventually wed in Las Vegas in July 2022, exactly two decades on from that first aborted attempt.
A New Chapter, Written on Her Own Terms
Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024. A judge approved the settlement in January 2025, with the split officially taking effect the following month. Neither party was required to pay spousal support, and the pair do not share children.

Rather than stay quiet, Lopez channelled the experience into music. Her emotional ballad Wreckage of You, released last year, sees her sing about emerging from the breakdown of a relationship stronger and wiser — the song closing on an image of her climbing free from the emotional wreckage rather than being consumed by it. It was a pointed statement of intent from a woman who has never been short of them.
The birthday celebrations had already been going in style. Lopez performed at Dolce & Gabbana's Alta Moda festivities in Italy before heading off on a European getaway with her younger sister, Lynda Lopez, the two of them marking their birthdays together.
'She Needed People to Talk About Her Again'
Not everyone, however, was in a celebratory mood. On the same weekend, Lopez's first husband — Cuban-born personal trainer Ojani Noa, 52 — gave an exclusive interview in which he made a rather different assessment of the Affleck chapter.
"That marriage was a publicity stunt. She needed people to talk about her again," Noa told The Sun on Sunday.
Noa, who married Lopez in February 1997 following a whirlwind romance and now lives in Florida, also pushed back on the carefully crafted narrative of Lopez's working-class origins, alleging that the woman he knew had lived a comfortable, middle-class life. "She was working on a TV show at 18. She had money and her mum was a teacher," he said, adding: "She is a fake."

He did, however, offer a more tender portrait of the woman he first met — describing her as a "sweet naive young woman" who was "emotional when he did romantic things and insecure about her acting."
The Sun on Sunday also reported that Noa claims their own marriage ended after he accused Lopez of cheating on him with her then-ex, Sean "Diddy" Combs — who was convicted last year of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
Eyes Forward
Whatever the noise surrounding her past, Lopez's birthday message made her present-tense priorities fairly clear. After a period of significant personal upheaval, the windswept passenger-seat video — radiant, unhurried, looking straight down the lens — read less like a social media post and more like a closing statement. She's 57, she's just performed at one of fashion's most glamorous events, and apparently, it just keeps getting better.
