'They Were All So Incredibly Good'
Jennifer Lopez has never been one to hold back, and a recent podcast appearance proved exactly that. During a guest spot on the Films to be Buried With podcast — hosted by her new co-star Brett Goldstein — the actress and singer made a thoroughly NSFW confession about the cast of the 1993 cult classic True Romance.
Working her way through the film's extraordinary ensemble — Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Christopher Walken, Dennis Hopper, Brad Pitt, James Gandolfini and Gary Oldman — Lopez landed on a verdict that left little to the imagination.
"I would've had sex with any one of them. That is the truth. They were all so — which says a lot about me, but maybe like the dark side of me — all of them were so incredibly f---ing good in this movie."
She was quick to clarify that the confession was rooted in admiration for the performances rather than anything else, adding that their work was "so top-notch and so believable and so dynamic."
Lopez was particularly taken with Arquette's portrayal of Alabama, the so-called hooker with the heart of gold, singling out a brutal scene in which Arquette's character is beaten by Gandolfini's hitman. Even with a "blown up face for the rest of the movie," Lopez noted, Arquette still somehow managed to look "sexy."
The Film That Brought Them Together
The podcast appearance was part of the promotional push for Office Romance, Lopez and Goldstein's new romantic comedy on Netflix, in which Lopez plays a high-powered CEO whose strict no-office-romance policy is tested when an attractive lawyer joins her company. Goldstein also co-wrote the script, and speaking to Harper's Bazaar earlier this year, he explained the thinking behind Lopez's casting and character — a deliberate evolution from her earlier rom-com roles.
"We wanted to make a love letter to workaholics and also a more grown-up, adult film," Goldstein said. "What if she's the CEO now? What if she's made it? She has a lot of power, and she is also proud of her work."
Lopez, for her part, was immediately on board when she read the script, describing it as having "a very wholesome quality" while also landing "hard jokes where people are cursing" — what she called "very much Brett's brand of writing."
Venice, Gondolas and a Madonna Moment
Lopez's podcast candour comes as the celebrity has been in notably high spirits of late. She recently travelled to Venice to celebrate her 56th birthday alongside her younger sister Lynda Lopez, and wasted no time making the most of the setting.
Hopping aboard one of the city's famous gondolas, she filmed a selfie video of herself performing choreography from Madonna's iconic Like a Virgin music video — the one in which Madonna swooned across a gondola in the 1984 clip directed by Mary Lambert.
"I had to do it," Lopez captioned the clip on X, as Madonna's track played in the background.
The tribute came just months after Madonna herself recreated the gondola moment with Ozark actress Julia Garner while filming scenes in Venice for the second season of Apple TV+'s Emmy-winning series The Studio. Lopez's version may have been rather more spontaneous — but given the sheer commitment to the choreography, it's clear she'd been waiting for her moment.
