She's tried blonde, she's tried brunette — but for fans of Lindsay Lohan, there really is only one look. The 40-year-old star has returned to her iconic red hair, debuting the transformation in a carousel of Instagram photos that sent her followers absolutely wild.

Posted on 4th August with nothing but a red heart emoji as a caption, the images show Lohan beaming broadly, her tousled auburn waves framing her face against what appears to be a relaxed, natural-makeup moment. The response in the comments was immediate and emphatic — her fans have been waiting for exactly this.

'The Most Iconic Redhead in Pop Culture'

Comments flooded in from devoted followers, with one declaring her "the most iconic redhead in pop culture" and another writing simply: "SHES RED AGAIN! The most famous red head IN THE WORLD!!!" The consensus was clear — for many, this is Lindsay at her most Lindsay.

Two side-by-side photos of the same woman: on the left, she has long blonde wavy hair and wears a lavender and silver embellished halter gown in front of a green sequined backdrop; on the right, she has long auburn-red wavy hair and wears a blue robe, seated against a grey-blue background.

And Lohan herself is firmly on board. Back in 2023, she posted a message to her younger self on Instagram in which she made her feelings on the matter perfectly plain.

"I love my red hair! They used to make me uncomfortable as a kid but now I realise how beautiful they are" — on both her hair and her freckles.

It's a sentiment that feels very much in keeping with the reflective, grounded energy Lohan has brought to this chapter of her life. The celebrity world has watched her navigate a remarkable personal transformation over the past decade — one she addressed directly when she turned 40 in July, writing on Instagram that her thirties had "changed everything in the most meaningful ways."

A Nod to The Parent Trap

The timing of the red hair reveal is also deliciously on-brand. Lohan recently fronted an advertisement for an Oreo and Reese's Peanut Butter collaboration — playing twins, naturally, in a wink to her star-making turn in The Parent Trap.

In the ad, she switches between blonde and red hair to portray both characters, welcoming guests to her "Reese's Twins Retreat" camp alongside comedian Amy Sedaris.

"Welcome to my wellness retreat, where I help twins work out their differences — because, well, I know a thing or two about twins."

The Parent Trap remains a touchstone for Lohan, who told Parade magazine that the 1998 film holds "such an important place" in her heart. "It's so funny; still today, young kids now notice me from that, which is just wild that people still love it so much," she said. "And to be a part of something like that is really special."

More Grounded, More Intentional

The hair change arrives at what feels like a settled, confident moment for Lohan. In her 40th birthday post — accompanied by photos of her husband Bader Shammas, whom she married in 2022, and their young son Luai — she described her hopes for the decade ahead as feeling "more grounded, more intentional, more joyful."

If her Instagram comments are anything to go by, the red hair is very much part of that joyful new chapter. As one fan put it: "I love how you can rock every hair colour, but I feel red is the most iconic." Hard to argue with that.
