Reports of a last-minute reconciliation between Taylor Swift and Blake Lively may have set the internet alight this week — but sources close to the situation say there's been no such phone call.
The Daily Mail sparked a flurry of speculation on Friday when it reported that the two former best friends had spoken by phone and were on the verge of mending their fractured relationship ahead of Taylor's upcoming wedding to NFL star Travis Kelce. The Sun, however, understands that no such reconciliation call ever took place.
A Decade of Friendship, Then Silence
Taylor, 36, and Blake, 38, were one of Hollywood's most high-profile female friendships for the best part of a decade. They became close in 2015, and their bond ran deep — Taylor served as godmother to Blake's three children with Ryan Reynolds: James, Inez and Betty. She even immortalised them in her music, with the trio providing a voice cameo on the track Gorgeous and earning a name-check in Betty. Blake also stepped behind the camera to direct Taylor's music video for I Bet You Think About Me.

It was, by all appearances, an unshakeable friendship. Then came the courtroom drama that changed everything.
How Justin Baldoni's Lawsuit Pulled Taylor Into the Storm
The rift is widely believed to stem from Blake's legal battle with her It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni. Blake filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Baldoni, 42, who retaliated with a defamation counter-suit against her. Both parties ultimately denied the claims made against them, and both suits were eventually dismissed.
But the damage to Taylor's friendship with Blake was a significant piece of collateral fallout. Private text messages Taylor had sent to Blake were included in court documents unsealed in January, dragging the pop star unwillingly into a very public dispute. It was widely speculated that Taylor had quietly distanced herself from Blake in an effort to protect her own reputation as the legal battle intensified.
The women's fall-out is said to revolve around text messages that Taylor sent to Blake, which were later revealed in court documents.
The two women had reportedly discussed the breakdown of their own dynamic within those very messages — a painful detail that made the estrangement all the more public.
Wedding Preparations, But No Olive Branch for Blake
With Taylor's wedding to Travis Kelce reported to be imminent, speculation about a guest list naturally turned to her most famous former friend. The couple, who met in 2023 after Travis expressed his interest in Taylor on his podcast, got engaged last summer after two years together.
On Friday, fans were sent into a spin when TMZ spotted a large white tent and significant activity near Taylor's $32 million Rhode Island mansion, with close friends including longtime companion Abigail Anderson photographed at the beachside estate. A nearby luxury venue, Ocean House, also had a major wedding on its books for the weekend — fuelling the fire further.

Hours later, however, TMZ itself walked back the speculation, confirming the couple had not filed for a marriage licence in Rhode Island — a necessary step before any ceremony could legally take place. The Sun US separately confirmed that the Ocean House booking belongs to a non-celebrity couple entirely. Multiple reports now point to Madison Square Garden in New York City on 3rd July as the more likely setting for the big day.
Taylor Swift hasn't reached out to ex best pal Blake Lively ahead of her wedding, amid rumours they've healed their rift.
As for Blake Lively, for now at least, it appears she will be watching the celebrations from the outside. Whether that changes before the big day remains to be seen — but as of this week, the phone has not rung.
