A Rare Family Moment
Christina Aguilera has given fans a precious and uncommon glimpse into her family life, sharing a rare photograph of her daughter, Summer Rain, as part of a holiday photo carousel. The image, which the pop icon captioned simply 'Summerween', shows the pair leaning on the bonnet of a vintage car, with Summer — dressed in blue jeans and a black top, her choppy brunette fringe framing her face — wrapping her arms around her mum and beaming widely.
The 45-year-old looked effortlessly relaxed in an American flag T-shirt and black jeans, a far cry from the sequinned stage looks that have defined her career. Also featured in the series of snaps were tender moments with her fiancé Matt Rutler — including a shot of the couple embracing and another of him kissing her on the cheek as they stepped off a private plane.
'She's Such an Artist'
For a singer who has always kept her children firmly out of the spotlight, the post felt particularly meaningful. Aguilera welcomed Summer with Rutler in 2014, and is also mum to her eldest child, Max, born in 2008 with her ex-husband Jordan Bratman.

Speaking previously about her daughter's blossoming creativity, Aguilera has made clear that the apple hasn't fallen far from the tree — even if she's careful not to push her own path onto her children.
'She's such an artist; she paints, she draws, she makes beautiful masks, and she's just so creative, but she's definitely her own thing.'
Aguilera added that Summer has recently taken an interest in acting and has already begun taking lessons — something the proud mum is fully behind, so long as the passion remains entirely Summer's own.
The Meaning Behind the Name
The name Summer Rain was chosen with great intention. Aguilera previously explained to People the reasoning behind it, describing it as a name steeped in warmth, renewal and hope.
'Summer is a time of spreading warmth and light, while rain washes away...replenishes and brings new life to allow growth and new beginnings. I wanted her name to be filled with inspiration, love and joy.'
Motherhood Has Taught Her Patience
In a candid appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Aguilera opened up about the realities of parenting — including the humbling moments that come with raising children who don't hold back.
'It's tough with kids in general,' she said. 'They will call you out for anything and everything.' But she was quick to highlight the gifts that come with it too, noting that motherhood has taught her patience and allowed her to see the world fresh through her children's eyes.

Given her own difficult upbringing — Aguilera has spoken openly about enduring an abusive household in her early childhood — it's perhaps no surprise that she is fiercely protective of her two children and determined to give them the stability she didn't always have. As she told Glamour: 'I've seen so much so young. You just want the best for your kids.'
With Summer growing up fast and clearly developing into her own creative force, it seems the Aguilera household has plenty of talent to go around — and one very proud mother cheering from the wings.
