Swift announced that 'Patient Zero' is just one of four brand new tracks on The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore — a deluxe edition of her 2025 album The Life of a Showgirl. The expanded record also includes 'Pink Clouding', 'Babylon', and 'Cleveland!', all written during a celebratory trip to Sweden with her longtime collaborators Max Martin and Shellback.

"Really we just wanted to reflect and take in how grateful we were for the moment we were in," Swift explained, "but there was a studio there and we did what we do when we feel anything at all: We wrote more songs."
