From angel wings to haute couture

Most teenagers settle for a birthday cake and a few friends. Sunday Rose Kidman Urban turned 18 by walking the Dior haute couture runway at Paris Fashion Week — and her mother marked the occasion in the most tender way imaginable.

On Tuesday, 7 July, Nicole Kidman took to Instagram to share a pair of never-before-seen throwback photographs of Sunday as a toddler, the kind of intimate family snapshots rarely made public. In the first, Kidman cradles her baby daughter close. In the second, little Sunday toddles away from the camera in a white dress, a pair of fluffy white angel wings strapped to her back.

"Happy 18th my angel, you couldn't be more loved," Kidman wrote in the caption, tagging her daughter directly.

The post drew an outpouring of warmth from fans and fellow stars alike. Actress Reese Witherspoon was among those who weighed in, leaving a simple but affectionate comment: "Happy Birthday, Sunny," accompanied by a heart emoji.

A runway moment to remember

While her mother was sharing memories, Sunday Rose was rather busy making new ones. The day before Kidman's post — on Monday, 6 July — Sunday walked the runway at Dior's autumn/winter 2026 haute couture show in Paris, wearing a grey gown with a textured, ribbed silhouette and rose pink fringe detailing at the sleeves and collar. She accessorised with a floral clutch and a single statement earring featuring a gold pendant and tassel beads, her brown hair parted down the centre and worn in a blowout.

It was a confident, composed performance from a young woman who is clearly finding her footing in the fashion world. This is not Sunday's first time on a prestigious runway — she made her modelling debut at the Miu Miu show during Paris Fashion Week in October 2024, and followed that up with a Miu Miu spring/summer 2025 campaign in January of this year. In May, she attended the Met Gala alongside her mother, who was serving as a co-chair for the event, with Sunday wearing a Dior gown featuring pink beaded florals.

A milestone in the making

Sunday Rose is the eldest daughter of Kidman and musician Keith Urban. The birthday post from Kidman was a rare glimpse into a relationship that the Oscar-winning actress has always kept carefully private, making the tender throwback images all the more striking for the fans who received them.
